Creating Confidence
How do we best teach Art to children in Primary schools? Do we have to be ‘Artists’ ourselves in order to help children fulfil their potential?
CREATING CONFIDENCE is a practical workshop created and facilitated by professional artists with experience in working with both children and teachers. The day is designed to support teachers to reconnect to their own innate creativity, through a series of non- judgmental and structured exercises, including use of pencil, charcoal, paint, pastel, paper and clay; grounded in the belief that art and creativity are a central human need, not a luxury add-on.
This innovative workshop aims to inspire teachers with a fresh enthusiasm and self assurance, enabling them to embrace risk and experimentation, in a way that will nurture both their own development and the children’s natural creativity. This foundation of confidence and understanding will also enable teachers to engage with the visual arts on a deeper level, both when looking at the children’s art and art in galleries.
The day will also provide opportunities to reflect on practical ways in which to translate insights and experiences into best practice within the classroom.
The workshop is facilitated by: Marco Crivello, painter, and Stephanie Davies-Arai ARBS, sculptor and Accredited Instructor, Teacher Effectiveness Training.
